Job Description

Overall Responsibility:

The role of Assistant Accountant / Accountant is a 1-year contract (with a view to permanency) who responsible for the day-to-day operations of all sales orders, billing and accounts receivable transactional duties of the Finance team for the Chinese Mainland and other APAC regions as required.

Principle duties and responsibilities:

Distribution and Logistics

  • Sales order processing, which includes daily operations and billing
  • Send daily material delivery request list to our third-party distribution and logistics companies to arrange delivery to our customers.
  • Answer customer enquiries about billing, order placement and order status including liaison with third-party logistics companies.
  • Respond to customer service queries and complaints related to sales orders, billing, and payment problems. Resolve issues efficiently by delivering first class customer service.
  •  Assist UK Finance Management in managing inventories including sales order reports, stock counts and records.

Financial Account Management

  • Monitor customer accounts and support the regional and global finance teams in debts collection, ensuring that key business targets are met to limit WSET’s exposure to bad debt.
  • Prepare and resolve month end processes, including but not limited to, generating reports, account reconciliation and communicating statement of accounts to customers.
  • Liaise with internal or external parties related to accounting works.

 Other Activities

  • Representing WSET Asia Pacific or the Finance Team, participate in projects as needed, including testing and providing feedback on new information and finance systems, to meet global business needs 
  • Contribute to the overall successful operation of WSET by undertaking such other tasks as may from time to time be requested

Skills and Competencies:

Essential

  • Higher Diploma in Accounting or equivalent.
  • At least 1-3 years relevant accounting experience, more experience will be considered as Accountant.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Mandarin
  • Experience of working with NetSuite or other accounting software.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 platforms

Desirable

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM software.
  • Experience of working in or with the Education and/or Charity sector.
  • Experience of working with companies in the Chinese Mainland.
  • Proven experience in customer service.
  • Exposure to Multi-currency financials.
  • Experience of working within an international business environment.

The role will be located in our Hong Kong office and will require someone who is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English, with Finance Experience.  As part of a wider global finance team, the role will be pivotal in continuing to drive and grow the WSET.
