Less experienced candidates will be considered for underwriting manager position

Job duties and responsibilities:

• Responsible for the aggressive growth of the Accident & Health book in a profitable way, and assisting in the implementation of business strategies, and formulating of portfolio planning
• Responsible for the execution of the product development plan, working with distribution channels to develop Accident & Health business
• Build, maintain and develop business relationships with intermediaries in the Hong Kong market and enhance Starr visibility with producers and clients
• Perform technical underwriting across all types and sizes of Accident & Health products within authorized framework
• Assist in streamlining internal processes, policy administration, premium collection and automation
• Providing expert advice, guidance and coaching to less qualified and/or experienced colleagues to address technical referrals, and raise standards and expertise across the technical community
• Managing customer interactions in an efficient, courteous and timely manner, in order to deliver high standards of customer satisfaction
• Work closely and collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide a smooth and strong business relationship between underwriting department and other company’s operations such as Claims and IT

 Qualifications:

• Capable of underwriting complicated Accident & Health cases independently
• Experience in developing business opportunities through intermediaries, established relationships with brokers at peer group levels
• Experience in product development in Accident & Health and Personal Lines
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Possess strong relationship building, interpersonal and communication skills
• University graduate from insurance or business-related qualification or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Possess of or progress towards professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII, ANZIIF) is preferred
• Minimum 3 - 5 years’ relevant experience in Accident & Health insurance industry
