Kong Mou Sum Library


Kong Mou Sum Library at Chu Hai College of Higher Education seeks an energetic, creative and visionary Librarian to join a collaborative team. Reporting to the Vice President (Academic), the Librarian will oversee staff, budgeting, library services, collections, physical space, technology adoption and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will be a collegial and experienced leader, with proven ability to manage, develop, and forward the strategic vision of an academic research library, while successfully implementing operational details with commitment to high quality user experience.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Library’s resources and services are able to meet learning, teaching and research needs
  • Support collection development of printed and online resources
  • Develop close partnership with publishers and resources providers and keep abreast of the latest trends in electronic resources including online books and journals
  • Promote library’s services and resources and engage with the academic and student communities to evaluate users’ needs
  • Advise and support Faculties on dissemination and preservation of research output, enhance research impact, and use bibliographical citation management tools
  • Implement College’s policies in acquiring books, journals, periodicals and e-materials
  • Supervise paraprofessional staff in circulation, cataloging, classification and organization of learning resource materials to assure maximum accessibility and applications
  • Carry out such other duties as may be assigned by the Vice President (Academic)

Skill & Qualifications

  • A recognized university degree and professional qualification in librarianship (MLS or equivalent) with 5 years of post-qualification experience and supervisory responsibilities
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with colleagues
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Chinese
  • Demonstrable professionalism with strong motivation, innovation, flexibility and commitment
