Job Purpose

Fossil is committed to strong strategic relationships with it’s manufacturing partners, that result in sector-leading performance in areas such as; innovation, product development, cost-competitive product, lead-times and quality. Our newly created Strategic Sourcing function will refine and drive a comprehensive sourcing strategy and performance improvement program for our Watch and Jewellery categories. A key element will be sustainable sourcing in support of our environmental commitment.

This role is strategic, practical and pivotal, it aims to secure optimal value from Fossil’s spend. It requires an internal entrepreneur to build and drive a program where global impact depends on effective collaboration across functions internally and with Fossil’s most strategic partners.

What's the job about?

  • Develop and maintain product and component cost benchmarks for new and variant products, based on Fossil sourcing experience, market trends and via analysis of competitor products
  • Deploy these ‘target costs’ as part cost negotiation within the new product development process and also review active product for opportunities to converge with targets
  • Develop management processes to refine strategic sourcing policies, performance reviews and manage approved vendor lists for Tier 1, 2, 3 partners
  • As the business expert and senior ‘super-user’ lead the implementation of advanced bid, database and analytical tools via a combined business and IT team
  • Orchestrate an annual, collaborative performance review for our partners using balanced scorecard and a two-way/shared action plan for improvement
  • Collaboratively develop cost engineering initiatives with Fossil globally and our manufacturing partners focused on complexity reduction, spend consolidation and efficiency
  • Monitor trade and custom compliance, tariffs, freight and related subjects, recommend and drive Fossil’s reaction to the change
  • Collaborate with senior members from the planning, design, manufacturing and product development functions (internally and as needed with partners) to develop a clear roadmap of continuous cost improvements
  • Structure a rebate program linked to the volumes of individual SKUs, volumes of platform and components and total volumes by partner
  • Lead sourcing initiatives for new and more sustainable materials, securing multiple sources to ensure long term support to development and production as well as competitive costs
  • Develop sourcing policies linked to our partner’s environmental footprint, and their programs to measure, reduce and remove carbon and other ‘footprint’ issues

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Financial, Engineering or Sustainability topics, complemented with relevant accreditations
  • Minimum of 10 years of strategic sourcing / merchandising / procurement management, Watch and/or Jewellery sector experience is definitely an advantage
  • Experience of leading the debate and reporting progress into senior levels of management
  • Solid knowledge in factory operations, including product development engineering, production line set up and control, outbound logistic and factory audits
  • Demonstrated your exposure to implementing modern strategic sourcing tools and analytics preferably, ARIBA or similar platforms
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese

Together, we make great things happen. Apply now and be part of our tomorrow.
