Job Description

Job Purpose: 

To efficiently curate and introduce a selection of merchandise that is relevant to seasonal trends and aligns with the company’s strategic direction whilst maximizing profit opportunities.

Key Accountabilities:

In addition to following Lane Crawford Group’s policies and procedures, key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the buying team in achieving seasonal sales, sell through and profit targets based on the seasonal business plan
  • Monitor sales and stock levels to attain seasonal target and increase stock turn rate for own bought brands.  Identify reorder opportunities in order to capture any potential missing sales opportunities
  • Be responsible for the maintenance and control of aged stock
  • Gain in depth feedback from stores in order to establish a balanced range of merchandise suited to the customer profile of each store
  • Determine pricing strategies for products/suppliers based on market reviews, competitor positions, and supplier financials
  • Maintain a leading position in the market of products in its own category
  • Be innovative and to forecast upcoming trends by leveraging social media, industry experience, and attending industry workshops and conventions
  • Demonstrate a desire to understand and communicate the latest trends and to customers and other stakeholders
  • Negotiate with suppliers in a tough but fair manner to secure exclusive products / brands and optimize the profit margin
  • Provide monthly updates to relevant stakeholders on key costs and expenses related to buying
  • Monitor the performance of all suppliers, give timely feedback and handle issues related to supply and product quality
  • Work closely with Visual Merchandise and Marketing to deliver the correct image to the end customer through the correct channels
  • Train sales staff in all aspects of the merchandise, including product knowledge and visual presentation.  Manage vendor relationship to ensure that the relevant information is shared in a timely manner
  • Identify and execute ways to increase team member’s loyalty, satisfaction and pride with the Lane Crawford Group experience
  • Provide on the job coaching to ensure direct reports are able to meet and exceed the requirements of their role
  • Monitor and review performance of direct reports with the Senior Buyer/ Merchandise Manager
  • Recognize, reward and celebrate success with the team, stores and vendors

Requirements:

  • 5 years or above in buying experience, preferably with multi-brand experience and specializing in luxury footwear and leather goods
  • Fluent command of English oral and written skill, and proficient Cantonese / Mandarin preferred
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Expert excel skills and advanced PowerPoint skills preferred
  • In depth understanding of market trends, brand desirability and upcoming launches
  • Strong team worker - Independent, flexible, creative, and passionate about fashion
