Job Description

Job Description:

A dynamic global company requires a responsive, diligent and proactive risk and security approach - business operations must be risk managed and safely enabled, not constrained. The context in which we operate is fast-changing, risk is a part of the business and we need creative and analytical thinkers and doers. We are seeking a risk-focused professional to join our team and play a critical role supporting the development of a global community that provides critical truth to the world’s decision makers.

Reporting to the global head of Risk & Security, this APAC-assigned role will provide regional coverage working closely with departmental colleagues, leaders, newsrooms, and other key stakeholders to deliver a range of risk and security services. We value deep customer familiarity and a sense of purpose. The work is challenging and rewarding. A dedicated utility player with a broad range of relevant skills, knowledge and experience will be successful and have an opportunity to contribute and grow.

You Will

  • Work with colleagues in Risk & Security to ensure relevant current and emerging risks to the organization and its people are effectively identified, assessed, communicated, and mitigated.
  • Forge exceptional relationships with people across the company and its publications. Provide a source of sound judgement, advice and counsel to staff, freelancers, and decision makers on risk, security and operational challenges.
  • Contribute proactively or when engaged to all best practices adopted by the Risk & Security organization - plan and process improvement, risk mitigation and responding to new challenges.
  • Using already-established tools and systems, support functional goals and responsibilities in high-risk support, workplace & event security, training, equipment management and investigations.
  • Play a key role supporting incident management through aggressive and active intervention, coordination, information provision and problem solving while providing compassionate and reasoned support to those involved.
  • Participate in industry working groups and follow trends in risk management and digital and physical security, the threat landscape (especially as it relates to media companies), best practices and solutions, available technologies and service providers.

You have

  • Mission-focused. Committed to the work, willing to handle a sometimes irregular schedule and dive into ambiguous and challenging situations.
  • A critical thinker. Able to understand complex situations and provide unique solutions.
  • A collegial, dynamic and proactive contributor with a desire for continuous learning, development and career growth.
  • Experienced applying risk management, security and training solutions. Having worked in a media organization - and being particularly familiar with the relationship between newsgathering, risk and digital/physical safety - is desired, but not necessary.
  • Understand the operational and security issues associated with challenging safety and security situations and austere, less-developed or conflict environments. Your knowledge comes from first-hand experience.
  • You are interested in global events and have a good understanding of how social/political/conflict dynamics can affect risk.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - you must be able to brief and influence effectively and translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms. Careful information sharing is critical as is tailoring your communications style for various audiences.
  • The ability to multi-task with regards to communications and coordination, research, operational planning and logistics, as well as administrative tasks.
  • Successful handling incidents and emergency situations - from identification and support to review and analysis. This includes communicating with leaders and working with all stakeholders to ensure business resilience.
  • Regionally relevant language skills would be a plus, but aren’t required.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive healthcare and insurance plans.
  • Paid time off
  • Retirement plans
  • Education benefits
  • Family care benefits
  • Employee referral program
