Job Description

Job Purpose:

To be responsible for the buying of merchandise mix which ties in with the company’s strategic direction, working together with the rest of the buying team to ensure the Company sales and profit objectives are met.

Key Accountabilities:

In addition to following Joyce’s policies and procedures, key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Merchandise Management:
  • Understand the business potential of the responsible brands in line with business objective;
  • Identify and develop business opportunity and growth of the responsible brands;
  • Be innovative and forecast upcoming trends by attending oversea events related to buying functions;
  • Be sensitive and be very familiar with both local and overseas market situation and trends;
  • Be proactive in understanding the competition, and take an appropriate action to secure the business opportunity;
  • Determine pricing strategies for merchandise based on market reviews, competitor positions, vendor relationship and financial aspects, etc.;
  • Manage sell-through and deliveries of all responsible brands and take decisive action to deal with their performance;
  • Monitor closely OTB system in managing sales and stock levels in order to drive seasonal target; Work with the shops to establish a balanced range of merchandise suited to the customer profile of responsible brand;
  • Work together with shops to make recommendations for changes and improvements on related merchandise activities to maximize sales opportunity;
  • Establish close working relationship with HK and China retail operations team by providing latest trend and market happenings, including an execution of product knowledge / brand training;
  • Work closely with Visual Merchandising and Marketing team for an appropriate strategy to build a brand image to the end of customer;
  • Manage the business relationship with vendors through regular communication involved brand performance

Team/ Leadership:
  • Demonstrate and reinforce the Joyce DNA at all times and provide the necessary leadership to gain commitment from buying team;
  • Identify and execute ways to increase team member’s loyalty, satisfaction and pride with the Joyce experience;
  • Reinforce the company message to the team and reinforce the need to drive profitability at Joyce; Provide training with full support and guidance to all related activities on buying process and to ensure coaching team members for thorough understanding on all daily work flow;
  • Provide on the job coaching to ensure that the team members are able to execute their job role in consistent quality;
  • Identify and facilitate growing opportunities to the team members by a guidance and counselling;
  • Take timely review for the staff performance and take an appropriate follow-up action
Job Requirement:
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years buying experience in related business, with multi-brands exposure is a plus
  • An accomplished individual, able to demonstrate excellent people management skills
  • Must have fashion or premium product background
  • Be a strong communicator, with the gravitas to report to the top level within the business
  • Demonstrate proven results in driving sales
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English & Mandarin
  • Immediate available is preferred
