Job Description

Research Centre for Chinese Literature & Literary Culture

[Appointment Period: 12 months]

The Research Centre for Chinese Literature and Literary Culture seeks a Post-doctoral Fellow to enhance the Centre’s ongoing and developing initiatives in the area of internationalization. During the appointment period, the appointee will be responsible for facilitating development of the Centre’s existing projects on Hong Kong literature and culture, Chinese-English translation, Classical Chinese literature (material culture and lyricism) or related areas in international academia and community. Duties include collaborating with the Centre members to apply for potential overseas or local fundings, writing up of research / project proposals and executing international projects. He/she will also perform administrative duties, such as organizing academic / knowledge transfer / promotion activities, and taking up tasks assigned by the Centre director / associate director. The appointment will be for a period of 12 months, beginning in mid-2022, with the possibility of renewal subject to mutual agreement.

Applicant should have a Doctoral Degree related to Literary studies / Cultural studies / Translation / Chinese Studies / Humanities in hand by the start date. Alongside required application documents, candidates should submit 1) a detailed cover letter describing previous experiences in research, knowledge transfer, and community service; 2) a two-page precis of the research project(s) they would like to undertake during their fellowship. This is a fixed-term postdoctoral fellowship, aimed at an early career scholar within the field of literary or cultural studies.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract. Fringe benefits include contract-end gratuity, leave, medical and dental benefits.
