Our client, a major local bank, is looking for a competent Linux systems engineer with Middleware support experience. The roles would cover some or all of these aspects, installation/maintenance/support of Linux software, together with maintenance and support of WebSphere Application Server (WAS), WebSphere Portal Server (WPS), MQ, HIS, Apache. Experience of AWS would be an advantage.

The main responsibilities for the position include:

• Carry out product installation and administration according to standards
• Develop scripts and configure tools to automate housekeeping and monitoring, including capacity management and planning, backup and job scheduling
• Conduct performance monitoring and tuning
• Maintain High-Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions
• Take part in troubleshooting roster providing out of office hours support for production support issues
• Work closely with application teams and provide consultancy services and technical advice
• Create and maintain various configurations and administration documentation

To be successful, you should meet the following requirements:

• Ideally a university graduate or educated to a tertiary level
• Competent skills in one or more of the aforementioned Middleware and relevant working experience
• A self-motivated team player with good project management skills
• Able to think “outside the box”
• Effective communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships different levels
• Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines and be prepared to work occasionally during out of office hours, including weekend days and nights
