Position Description

Mother’s Choice seeks a Youth Services Program Officer for developing and delivering crisis pregnancy prevention and intervention programs to equip and empower school youth, youth at risk of crisis pregnancy and/or sexual health crisis with knowledge and life skills to make informed decisions.

Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Youth Services, the ideal candidate should have a deep commitment to the Mother’s Choice vision of every child in a loving family, a familiarity with the local education system and youth community, and a genuine dedication in enhancing the well-being of youth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct school-based and community-based prevention programs (i.e. comprehensive ecological sexuality education program) targeted at school youth, youth at risk of crisis pregnancy and/or sexual health crisis
  • Support Assistant Manager on the development of comprehensive sexuality education curriculum targeted at youth at risk of crisis pregnancy and/or sexual health crisis including producing & refining teaching materials, scripts, consolidating frequently asked questions and any other materials needed for its delivery.
  • Liaise with schools, peer organizations and community volunteer educators on scheduling, program execution and implementation
  • Maintain accurate records of prevention program through implementing KPI measures / survey as well as preparing various reports for evaluation
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of intervention programs for pregnant teenagers, and other Youth Services initiatives including professional training for youth workers and campaigns to raise public awareness on the vicious cycle of teenage pregnancy and vulnerable children 
  • Support in answering enquiries to the crisis pregnancy hotline
  • Contribute to administrative and team activities including maintaining purchase requisitions and receipts for accurate budgeting and assisting in the annual planning and reporting process
  • Undertake other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Preferably with University degree or above.
  • 2 years or more field experience in program planning and implementation; ideally with a focus on youth, sexual health, public health, community work and other related disciplines
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in facilitating school-based workshops/small group/counselling with youth, or in working with youth with special needs
  • Self-aware individual with creativity, integrity and non-judgmental attitude in discussing sensitive topics with youth
  • Commitment to helping youth make informed decisions while adhering to the values of Health, Safety and Access to Information
  • Passionate about the Mother’s Choice mission and committed to the strategic vision and future plans of the organization
  • Good written and spoken Chinese and English skills; ability to communicate effectively in Cantonese is a must. Preference will be given to candidates who are capable of conduct programs in English fluently
  • Willing to travel to different districts in Hong Kong about 2 times a week
  • Flexible and can work during occasional evenings and weekends
  • Must share the commitment of Mother’s Choice in upholding the safety and protection of children as paramount
