Postdoctoral Fellows / Research Associate
[Appointment period: each for thirty-six months]

Duties (Ref: R21-R22/P5.1, R23-R24/P5.2, R19-R20/P5.3)

(P5.1)
The appointees will report to the Project Leader and the Centre Director or his designate (currently Program Manager), and perform research and related work in the development of industry data to contribute to and enhance overall product/system safety and reliability. 

(P5.2)
The appointees will report to the Project Leader and the Centre Director or his designate (currently Program Manager), and perform research and related work in the development of innovative methods for ensuring the reliability of sensors and the integrity of data produced by sensors using the machine learning techniques.

(P5.3)
The appointees will report to the Project Leader and the Centre Director or his designate (currently Program Manager), and perform research and related work in the development of innovative methods for representation of multi-dimensional data and images, in order to facilitate interpretation, modeling, expert checking of validity, and educational use.

The Postdoctoral Fellow appointee will be required to: 

a) convert/conceptualize industrial pain point/motivation to a good structure AI research;

b) team up with a group of researchers with specific expertise to set the research directions;

c) coordinate, disseminate, and communicate internally and externally the research plan;

d) drive to reach the reliability and safety objectives; and

e) prepare and publish relevant research papers in high-tier peer-reviewed journals and

(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Centre Director or his delegates.

The Research Associate appointee will be required to:

a) plan industrial pain point/motivation to a good structure AI research;

b) team up with a group of researchers with specific expertise to implement the research work and experiment;

c) drive to reach the reliability and safety objectives within scheduled timeline; and

d) report project work issues and support devising of project proposal and report; and

(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Centre Director or his delegates.

Qualifications (Ref: R21-R22/P5.1, R23-R24/P5.2, R19-R20/P5.3)

Applicants for the post of Postdoctoral Fellow should have a doctoral degree or an equivalent qualification in Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or in a related field.

They should also have a strong analytical skill with experience in big data and artificial intelligence research. 

(P5.3)
They should also have a strong analytical skill with interests in big data and artificial intelligence. 


Applicants for the post of Research Associate should have a master’s degree in Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computing Science or a relevant field.

(P5.2)
They should also have a strong analytical skill with interests in big data and artificial intelligence research. 


For both posts, applicants should also have:

(P5.1)
a) knowledge of database and machine learning;

b) well-organized, capable to work under pressure and able to handle multi-tasking assignments in a multidisciplinary team;

c) excellent interpersonal skills; and

d) good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, with proficiency in Putonghua being an advantage.

(P5.2)
a) possessing research experience and interest on sensor application usage and the corresponding data integrity issue;

b) proficiency in programming language (e.g. C, Python, Matlab);

c) good interpersonal and communication skills; and

d) good command of written and spoken English.

(P5.3)
a)   proficiency in programming language (e.g. C, Python, Matlab);

b)   good interpersonal and communication skills; and

c)   good command of written and spoken English.

Fresh graduates are also welcome.

(P5.2)
Preference will be given to the candidates who have experience in electronic system development.

(P5.3)
Preference will be given to those with research experience in machine learning and data science.
