Lidl are hiring a (Senior) Technical Writer to support the Artwork and Packaging team in enhancing their technical writing capability. The successful candidate will create technical documentation based on product specifications and samples, and will also build up a database for process facilitation.

• Create technical documentations, including instruction manuals, safety / assembling manuals, and quick start guides for a wide variety of consumer goods.
• Organise materials and complete writing assignments in accordance with all relevant product standards and countries regulations in the EU, UK, and US.
• Create / edit line drawings, sketches, diagrams, OSD screenshots, table / charts to illustrate material.
• Align with Merchandising and Quality Assurance teams during the documentation creation and finalisation phases. In terms of on-time delivery and ensuring accuracy of specifications, product assembly steps, and operating procedures of the products.
• Understand complex concepts and communicate the information in a way that is engaging and understood by end-users at various technical levels.
• Gather feedback on instruction manuals from Quality Assurance team / Testing institutes to improve usability and marketability. Get alignment and execute final changes on instruction manuals to reduce correction loops before and after translations.
• Act as an editor to ensure terminology and style consistency in the documentation across product categories and organisation.
• Prepare / typeset and review instruction manuals for translation process.
• Cooperate closely with Design, Translation and Artwork Team in the fields of graphics, artwork and packaging management based on internal quality requirements.
• Build and maintain content / translation library and templates for standardisation purposes.
• Assist in proofreading, technical problem solving, reviewing test reports, and communicating with testing institutes if required.
• Work in ad-hoc project support and other duties as assigned.

Please note this is a 12-month contract with the potential to go permanent.

• University degree in Technical Communication, Technical Translation, or related fields or work experience as Technical Writer 

• 2 - 4 years' work experience in the field of technical documentation 

• Experience with Power Tools, SDA, Lightings, and Hi-Tech (smart IoT) product groups will be an advantage

• Exemplary attention to detail and time management skills

• Work independently on written assignments and be a dependable, strong team player with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills

• Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Acrobat 

• Excellent writing skills in English, proficiency in German or other European languages will be an advantage

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst under pressure to meet tight deadlines
