In a nutshell

The role of an Assistant Quality Technologist is to support the daily technical team operations in suppliers and product managements, as well as maintaining effective working relationship with related internal and external stakeholders in Asia and UK.

What I need to do

• Ensure suppliers understand Sainsbury’s Technical Requirements
• Review Shipment Inspection Reports together with his / her supervisor.
• Support responsible technologists in ensuring technical approvals & timeliness are adhered to the critical path, coordinating hand in hand with the UK team, merchandisers & suppliers
• Provide supports on product assessments against Customer Quality Measures (CQM) and coordinate product sealing approval activities
• Provide supports in incident management, escalations and continuous improvements
• Develop and maintain relationship with external stakeholders including suppliers and third party inspection and testing service providers
• Supporting the administration works: monitor the supplier KPI, sample submission, document filing & manage the report data  
• Customer complaints – retrieve the data, discuss with supervisor on the follow up actions.   
• Ability to handle the projects together with supervisor
• Market research & analysis.  
• Product inspection & manage the samples in and out.  
• Assist the supervisors on shipment release.  
• Work on ad hoc projects

What I need to know

• Prefer with Degree or equivalent in food science or relevant scientific subject
• Prefer with 1-3 years’ experience in a technical role either in the manufacturing base or at a retailer (Fresh graduate will also be considered)
• Basic knowledge of quality management systems, ethical audits, testing requirements, and risk assessment tools.  
• Flexible, able to work under pressure.
• Experience in using the software - Excel, Words, E-mails, PowerPoint.   
• Fluent in written and spoken English, Cantonese & Mandarin
• Nice to have UK legislation and requirements and manufacturing operations in Asia
• Willingness to travel within Asia if required
• Prefer with Food Tech background, but not a must
• Fresh graduates will also be considered
