Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • To assist in the liaison with other government departments or external parties regarding any environmental issues arising from the works contracts including complaints and breaching of statutory limits;
  • To schedule the environmental monitoring activities;
  • To attend the weekly site inspections;
  • To assist in the investigation of the causes of complaints;
  • To assist in the follow up and close out of the non-compliance actions
  • To assist in the investigation of the causes of actions or limit level exceedances;
  • To ensure the Event/Action Plan(s) as stated in the Updated Environmental Monitoring & Auditing (EM&A) Manual is/are implemented at the site in case of limit exceedance, for example the implementation of mitigation measures;
  • Attend site environmental meetings and meetings with relevant government departments, if required;
  • Format and publish the EM&A data to Project EM&A website;
  • Management of dolphin observers, include contacting the dolphin observers, preparing the roster of dolphin observers, arranging dolphin observers training and management of dolphin observers at the site as necessary;
  • To assist in the preparation of Notice of Exceedances when Action or Limit Level exceedances are observed from the data;
  • To assist with the preparation of EM&A reports;
  • Any other tasks to be instructed by ERM

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate qualification in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology or Environmental engineering
  • Experience in environmental consultancy or environment focused on non-governmental organizations (including internship) is an advantage
  • Solid knowledge on biodiversity/ environmental impact assessment as well as nature conservation is essential
  • Excellent report writing skills. Fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese is a must. Other language is an advantage
  • Strong communication, coordination and presentation skills and ability to work in a team is essential
  • Willing to commit to a 2 years contract
