Job Description

Based in Hong Kong, the Press & Communications Officer is a member of Perrotin’s global press and communications team located in Paris, Hong Kong, New York, Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai. He or she is responsible for the promotion of Perrotin’s Hong Kong exhibitions and projects in primarily Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, as well as the promotion of Perrotin’s artists and worldwide activities in these markets. Respectively, he or she reports to the head of the Hong Kong gallery and to the Director of Communications based in Paris.

Responsibilities 

  • Initiate, implement and manage campaigns and strategies for press and social media (primary priority) and advertising (secondary priority). 
  • Source for and manage writers for the Hong Kong gallery’s commissioned texts, working with external translators where necessary. Edit and proof read texts, working with the gallery’s graphic designer to produce layouts for various materials including but not limited to press releases, announcements, and marketing/wayfinding materials. 
  • Draft copy for social media posts, announcements and selected press releases. 
  • Prioritise media pitching to secure features and interviews. 
  • Develop interesting and intelligent content in video and other formats for social media platforms and digital marketing. 
  • Organise and manage media previews and tours. 
  • Compile and file media coverage for the Hong Kong gallery’s exhibitions and projects, working with an external provider to track and collect media coverage. 
  • Work closely with the Director of Communications in Paris, counterparts and relevant colleagues in Paris, New York and across Asia to strategize, craft, pitch and distribute news and content through its global press networks and social media platforms.
  • Grow and strengthen Perrotin's relationships with media and journalists in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Develop and expand relationships with media and journalists across Southeast Asia and in Australia and New Zealand. 
  • Grow Perrotin’s network of writers for commissioned texts, translators, proof readers and video makers.
  • Evaluate advertising and media partnership opportunities, and negotiate media packages.
  • Ad-hoc assignments and projects. 

 Requirements

  • Minimum of two to three years of experience in a similar role, either in-house for an art organisation or as part of an agency responsible for the accounts of art organisations.
  • Excellent social and networking skills.
  • Creative, able to bring ideas to the table.
  • Organized, able to work smart through good multitasking and time management skills.
  • Down-to-earth, able to work well as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Willing to put in extra hours to meet deadlines and monitor published posts and news outside office hours.
  • Excellent command of English and Traditional Chinese, comfortable with translating between either language.
  • Good command of Simplified Chinese.
  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 7.00pm.
