We are looking for a dynamic, analytical, and competent professional to join our eMobility team in CLP Power as Senior Manager – Data Platform for eMobility platform development on leading a key work activity to achieve our broader eMobility challenges.

Major Requirements:

CLP Power is working towards supporting Hong Kong in achieving their net zero targets. A key segment to address is the transport and vehicle sector which is undergoing a transition to electric. This role will work directly with the Director – eMobility on ensuring our various activities are on track and moving forward in line with our overall strategy.

The jobholder will be responsible for working with different team leaders to manage and support progress on various eMobility initiatives. The Senior Manager – Grid Planning & Integration will have oversight of all activities to ensure the interfaces across work streams are well managed and will provide technical expertise as needed.

  • Review, maintain and improve the EV(Electric Vehicle) load forecasting model and provide the updated results to the stakeholders.
  • Study EV’s impact on HK electrical power system (generation, transmission and distribution).
  • Identify the potential issues on power system operation from EV charging and possible solutions.
  • Coordinate with various teams to deliver the EV grid-support trials (e.g., time of use, demand side response, V2G(Vehicle-to-grid), etc.) and evaluate the performance on grid operation.
  • Lead/support the gathering, integration and interaction (with grid) when massive EVs are deployed, to support the optimal power system operation.
  • Review, assess and develop the technical standards for the development of EV in HK in particular around grid connection and interfaces.

Requirements:

  • A recognized university degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in electrical power system analysis, electric vehicle integration and project management
  • Interest and enthusiasm in studying the development of the future power system and having a clear vision of development of eMobility from vehicle, user and power grid perspective.
  • Understand the typical power system load modeling methods and hands-on experience in EV charging demand modelling. 
  • Basic programming skill in any mainstream software such as python, Matlab, R, C, etc.  
  • Hands-on and project-proven experience in power system analysis software utilization.
  • Understand the principle of power system operation and the use of grid codes.
  • Good knowledge in the features of EV management platform, DERMS (distributed energy resources management system) and potential ADMS (advanced distribution management system) and the interaction among them.
  • Knowledge / experience in power system communication technologies / protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, Modbus, DNP3.0, IEC60870-5-103\104) will be seen as an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience or project management experience in EV-grid integration and interaction will be desired. 
  • Strong organization, communication, influencing and expectation management skills.
  • Ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to think strategically as well as work pragmatically
  • Self-motivated and capable of working without constant supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team leveraging different skills and backgrounds
  • Have a background in an energy, consulting, mobility, or the technology industry experience would be an advantage
