Job Description

Responsibilities: 
  • Be an advocate for a robust and transparent risk culture and lead by example.
  • Develop and maintain a strong rapport with relevant business and functional leaders and employees within an allocated portfolio.
  • Provide education in relation to the Risk Management Framework, as required.
  • Provide challenge, advice and guidance on risk management to foster high achieving, well controlled 1st and 2nd line functions Lead the program of Stress and Scenario testing, Operational Risk Quantification analysis and reporting, incident review, control verification, risk workshops, data analysis and Board and Committee reporting pertaining to the relevant businesses.
  • Support and contribute to the effective operation of the Hong Kong risk management committees and produce reports to the Corporate Group as required.
  • Analyse data in various ways to identify trends and deficiencies, report findings and drive changes across the business (e.g. whether the Hong Kong businesses are exposed to risks outside of risk appetite)
  • Develop and promote elements of the risk management framework, e.g. risk registers, emerging risks and process documentation
  • Ensure escalation thresholds and triggers are enforced.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Risk & Compliance team, to provide a seamless, comprehensive service to the business (e.g. control testing).
  • Support and where required, lead components of regulatory requirements (e.g. development of the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment, ORSA and other Insurance Authority requirements, e.g. enterprise risk management).
  • Be accountable for implementation of policies, frameworks and supporting processes as required.
  • Support and where required, lead the business in the implementation and embedding of the enterprise policy suite.
  • Liaise with other members of the Risk & Compliance team to analyse incident and risk data to provide meaningful information to the business.
  • Contribute to the development of risk knowledge within the team
  • Develop detailed understanding of business and functional areas to really add value to risk management processes

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Risk Management, Accountancy, Actuarial or related disciplines.
  • Highly organized, results driven self-starter with excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and influencing skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the global health insurance market, or relevant transferable skills and knowledge from other financial services industries such as Life Insurance, Retail, Commercial or Investment Banking and Wealth Management or Financial services.
  • Comprehensive risk management experience relevant to Bupa’s activities.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements in Hong Kong.
  • Strong knowledge of Hong Kong’s insurance industry and Bupa’s competitors in the market
  • Experience in facilitating risk workshops, stress and scenario tests.
  • Experience engaging, presenting to, and challenging senior management teams to explain and educate in relation to all aspects of a Risk Management Framework.
  • Experience in report writing and technical analysis, with strong written and oral skills.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and Cantonese or Mandarin with ability to present articulately with appropriate level of gravitas.
