YOUR POSITION WITH TNC
The Conservation Coordinator is part of TNC Hong Kong’s conservation program, working from the main office as well as TNC conservation sites to provide administrative, research, project management and other general assistance to program staff working toward the achievement of conservation goals. An initial two-year contract employment will be offered to the successful candidate, with the possibility of extension for another 2 years.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Reporting to the Senior Conservation Manager (Hong Kong), the Conservation Coordinator will work across various conservation projects, collaborating with multiple project leads as well as team members from other departments. Essential functions include:
  • Managing conservation data, participating in scientific field work, including collecting, assembling and analyzing various types of data in the field (species and habitat monitoring) and producing maps using GIS software;
  • Engaging and responding to community and public enquiries,
  • Maintaining manual project records and assisting in the production of reports;
  • Managing logistics coordination.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE
  • Conducts field science, data collection and analysis
  • Works in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances.
  • Coordinates multiple tasks across different projects in a timely manner and with attention to detail.
  • Assists with program monitoring and reporting.
  • Makes day to day decisions as delegated by the supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, natural resources management or related field and 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good command of GIS software and experience in GIS data analysis
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects.
  • Experience handling standard business communications.
  • Strong administrative skills including attention to detail and numerical ability.
  • Fluent in Cantonese and English
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Multi-lingual and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated
  • 2-4 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in intertidal ecology appreciated.
  • Fast learner and ability to complete tasks independently within assigned time frames.
  • Team player and ability to manage multiple priorities, with assignments sometimes coming from a number of sources.
  • Ability to coordinate project information from a number of sources to populate databases, create reports and produce manual files.
  • Experience in report production preferred.
  • Ability to plan, administer and record results of work-team meetings and activities.
  • Good writing skills appreciated
  • Good communication and presentation skills and ability to lead public group events (such as youth field trips, volunteer groups etc) appreciated.
