Job Description

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

1) Community Engagement

  • Collaborate and maintain contact with non-profit organizations, schools, political parties, and other key stakeholders in society
  • Coordinate with partners, event planning and organization for ideas generation events with stakeholders

2) Policy Advocacy

  • Conduct research, regularly monitor the latest policy development, develop sound knowledge on one/more of the advocacy themes
  • Produce policy briefing papers, policy position statements, articles, surveys, and public communication related to key advocacy issues
  • Support in questionnaire design and dissemination of polling and other research

3) Campaign

  • Manage advocacy campaign of the Save the Children and ensure that advocacy is an integral part of Save the Children’s Theory of Change
  • Attend global meetings, synthesize learning, and share key points and actions with team, informing campaign planning and action to ensure Hong Kong-based activities are in line with the global campaign and thinking
4) Youth Engagement
  • Assist in the implementation of the Youth Ambassadors programme
  • Support the design and implementation of youth engagement programmes
  • Support the delivery of training, seminars, workshops, hearings, and presentation to youth
5) Other Activities
  • Engagement in global or regional advocacy and campaigning community of practice, learning from other countries and regions experience

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University graduate in a recognized degree in social sciences, humanities or related discipline. A degree in journalism, government and public administration, international relations, government and laws, translation, language and communication or related disciplines would be an advantage.
  • 2-3 years working experience on advocacy, campaigns, stakeholder engagement, and / or public education projects. Experience working in a not for profit organization is preferred
  • Candidates with less experience will be considered for a position as Assistant Officer. Fresh graduates are also welcome
  • Familiar with Hong Kong’s child rights situation, social and political landscape
  • Excellent research, problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Excellent proficiency in written and oral English and Cantonese
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task, organizing work efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Able to work with colleagues and partners from multi-cultural and diverse backgrounds
  • Able to analyze and present data and research findings in a logical manner is an advantage
  • Passionate about creating positive changes towards children's wellbeing
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
