Institute of Professional Education And Knowledge (PEAK)

The Institute of Professional Education And Knowledge (PEAK) is a unit of Vocational Training Council responsible for the provision of in-service training and professional examination services. More than 200 major companies have utilized its corporate training services.
Specialisms:
(1) System Development
(2) Infrastructure Management
Major Duties:
For (1) System Development
(a) To be responsible for the system design, development and maintenance of web and mobile applications;
(b) To assist in the daily administration and support of mission-critical systems; and
(c) To review on the effectiveness of controls in the areas of technology and information security.
For (2) Infrastructure Management
(a) To oversee and maintain the network, IT application systems with servers;
(b) To provide support on data centre management, operations and monitoring; and
(c) To manage IT systems and services on Windows / Linux / virtualisation platforms.
Requirements:
(a) (i) A recognised degree in IT or equivalent with at least 2 years’ relevant work experience; OR
(ii) A recognised higher diploma in IT or equivalent with at least 5 years’ relevant work experience;
(b) For (1) System Development:
(i) Experience in RESTful API, AJAX, JavaScript, SQL, PHP and/or .NET development; and
(ii) Hands-on experience in using open source JavaScript framework (e.g. React / Angular / JQuery);
For (2) Infrastructure Management:
(i) Experience in security and network infrastructure such as Firewall, Routers, Switches, VPN, Load Balancer; and
(ii) Experience in VMware ESXi, Linux and MS Window Server;
(c) Proficiency in English and Chinese; and
(d) Good interpersonal skills, self-initiative and be a good team player.
Notes:
(1) The appointee(s) may be required to work irregular hours / outside normal office hours and/or at different work locations on a need basis.
(2) The appointee(s) may be posted to any operational units of the VTC, e.g. a campus / centre, to carry out similar duties, and have different post titles which are subject to change at the Council’s discretion.
