Assisting in the preparing of the strategic and annual budgeting, planning and management reports for Non-Life Business in Hong-Kong. Provide deep dive analysis and insights on business drivers
Responsibilities
- Business Budget Development and Implementation
- Work with team head and actuaries to prepare the 3 years strategic plan (IFRS17) and the yearly budget
- Assist in the plan preparation discussions with internal departments, Regional Office and Head Office Planning departments
- Conduct research necessary to prepare forecasts using multiple scenarios; reviews trends and regulatory changes impacting business
- Conduct market benchmark to provide comparisons
- Assist team head to prepare strategic plan deck and reports requested by Regional Office
Regulators and Company Projects
- Work with financial reporting team to collect data, come up with assumptions and conduct analysis on the critical financial projects, such as RBC, IFRS17 etc.
- Work with other functions/departments on other company key projects, to provide support/analysis
- Assist cost-benefit analyses as required to assist in making management decisions regarding benefits of current and proposed program proposals, capital budgets, etc.; creates financial models
- Prepare ad hoc reports as needed
Budget Control and Strategic Planning
- Deep dive analysis on the technical ratios and reasons for variance
- Assist in developing policies & processes on budget monitoring and control
- Prepare special management reports for senior management with robust commentary and financial analysis
Management Reports
- Support monthly financial closing meeting
- Regularly review reporting structures and streamline reporting requirements
- Prepare reports/ dashboards to senior management
- Prepare actual vs budget reports on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis in collaboration with the Business Units, Accounting, and Actuarial departments, identifying any areas of concern and remedial actions
Requirements
- 5-8 years of Finance & Accounting and/ or audit experience in insurance business
- With 2-4 years of relevant experience in reporting, analysis and planning in general insurance business
- Good finance and accounting knowledge in non-life insurance business
- University Degree
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (preferred)
- Excellent English, Cantonese, and Mandarin (preferred)
