Job Description

Summary/purpose of the position:

Assist the staff development manager to plan, develop, implement and evaluate staff learning and development programs to ensure staff would acquire the necessary competencies required by Greenpeace East Asia and able to progress to meet longer term organisational objectives.

Reporting to staff development manager, staff development officer will be based in places where we have offices in East Asia region to carry out learning & development programs and tasks. S/he will work closely with staff, in particular with managers, project leaders, colleagues in Steer role, HR team and Staff Development Unit. This role involves multiple concurrent daily deadlines, ability to prioritization and perform under pressure. The post holder should work effectively as a team player and individual on assignments.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify learning and development needs of individuals, teams and the organization as a whole and advise appropriate forms of support whenever necessary.
  • Implement organizational-wide staff development programs in each office and keep enhancing and adapting to emerging needs for more timely support to staff.
  • In collaboration with internal stakeholders to foster a culture of learning and knowledge sharing, as well as to cultivate an empowering momentum on staff self-driven learning journey to enable career progression and achieve organizational goals.
  • Share and advise line managers and staff on diverse and effective learning and development practices and tools which could best encourage self owned and best informed learning methods suitable for staff.
  • Prepare and develop instructional training material and aids when necessary such as handbooks, visual aids, online tutorials, demonstration models, and supporting training reference documentation.
  • Provide logistics and administrative support in designing, coordinating, scheduling and conducting training and development programs that can be delivered in the form of individual and group instruction, and facilitating trainings, workshops, meetings, and conferences;
  • Provide support in monitoring and performing ongoing evaluation and assessment of training quality and effectiveness, and reviewing and modifying training objectives, methods and course deliverables whenever necessary.
  • Maintain and update the training database and ensure training records of all trainees are complete and accurate.
  • Liaise with external training providers to arrange delivery of specific training and development programs.
  • Support and contribute towards the general staff activities as required.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Skill and expertise required

  • Coaching, and or or two of either: giving feedback, mediation or facilitation skills;

Work environment

  • Office based in one of the EA offices, travel is required

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Degree or above is preferred
  • HRD / L&D related experience
