Job Description
Hotel and Tourism Institute / Chinese Culinary Institute / International Culinary Institute

Major Duties:
(a) To perform teaching duties including supervision of students’ projects and fieldwork placement;
(b) To assist the head of the operational unit in overseeing the daily operations regarding programme and academic management, resources management, staffing, finance and procurement;
(c) To carry out duties in relation to student and academic administration;
(d) To develop programme curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment materials;
(e) To report and monitor the implementation of quality assurance policies and procedures;
(f) To oversee installation and commissioning of training facilities and equipment.
(g) To assist in validation and accreditation of programmes; and
(h) To participate in networking with industry / industrial attachments, departmental projects and functions, including but not limited to consultancy services, research studies, seminars and exhibitions.
Requirements:
(a) (i) A recognized degree in Chinese Language / Chinese Language and Literature / Language Studies (Chinese) / Chinese Linguistics / Education (Chinese); OR
(ii) A recognized degree in Translation / Teaching Chinese as a Second Language or as a Foreign Language. A transcript with course details should be provided for consideration.
(b) (i) Grade B, Level 2 or above in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Commission on Language Work; OR
(ii) A pass in the Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers (Putonghua) administered by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) or equivalent.
(b) At least 3 years’ relevant teaching and/or industry experience;
(c) Good communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese;
(d) Good knowledge of basic computer applications;
(e) Preferably with some understanding of the hospitality and culinary industry;
(f) Good work initiative and be customer oriented; and
(g) Ability to pass a written test and a teaching demonstration session.
Notes:
(1) The appointee may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and in designated places as assigned.
(2) In support of the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) Scheme launched by the Hong Kong Police Force, all prospective appointees will be requested to undergo the SCRC at the advanced stage of the employment process.
