Job Description
THE JOB
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager (Science/Research) will be responsible for the following duties:
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager (Science/Research) will be responsible for the following duties:
- To support project work for the Sports Science and Research Funding Scheme ("SSRFS") https://www.hksi.org.hk/ssrfs managed by the HKSI;
- To provide specialist advice and support for the SSRFS in designated focus areas. The prevailing technology focus areas are cloud computing; computer networking; wearable sensors, robotics, system integration, artificial intelligence, internet of things, video analytics, nanotechnology and sports sciences;
- To review project proposals, provide technical advice, coordinate the assessment of project proposals, follow up with prospective project leads on enquiries, and support the selection process;
- To monitor the progress of funded projects against funding agreements; to coordinate relevant internal and external parties involved in respective approved projects including project leads, coaching departments and the Elite Training Science and Technology Division of the HKSI to ensure milestones of funded projects are achieved within schedule and deliverables are scientifically sound;
- To assist in preparing committee papers and management briefs on the vetting and project progression of funded projects, returns and statistics about the SSRFS;
- To supervise the work of Project Officer in duties and performance to ensure timely completion of assigned duties; and
- To perform any other appropriate duties as assigned by supervisors.
THE REQUIREMENTS
- A postgraduate degree in Sports Engineering, Sports Science, Computing, Data Science or related disciplines; A PhD degree is preferred;
- A minimum of 4 years of work experience in a similar role;
- Strong research or technical background in the development, application and commercialization of technology and understanding of current trends in technology and market; experience in proposals for research grant application is a definite advantage;
- Knowledge of scientific elite training or previous experience in a similar setting is preferred;
- Knowledge/experience in invention patent and commercialization of technology is preferred;
- Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; ability to speak Putonghua is a definite advantage;
- Effective communication skills; and
- Awareness/knowledge of Child Protection in sports and equal opportunity issues in the context of Hong Kong are an added advantage.
