Job Description

The Department

The Broadcasting Operations team is responsible for live coverage of horse racing in Hong Kong, production of related promotional video, formatting betting and racing-related information into TV graphic displays and documentaries for on-air at TV stations as well as display on the giant display screens and closed-circuit TV network at the racecourses.  The Chinese Telecast section in Broadcasting Operations is responsible for producing and packaging racing television programs, both for local broadcasting by terrestrial free-to-air television, pay cable television, overseas simulcasting operations of which betting on Hong Kong’s horse racing is operated.

For AV Producer, reporting to Broadcasting Operations Manager (IDS), you are responsible for controlling the New Video Patrol Sync. Play System (NVPSS) Recording System and VTR to support Stewards inquiry during race, and ensure the video and picture quality can meet the Stewards requirements for inquiry. Support post-race inquiry based on Steward's request. Video editing for Steward review and other related productions. Responsible for routine Housekeeping of Video Patrol Master, archiving, and stock checking to ensure the stability and quality of the Patrol Master Records.

For Senior AV Producer who has more experience, you are responsible for supervising the front-line operations and ensuring the stability of the New Video Patrol Sync. Play System (NVPSS) at two different control rooms (Happy Valley and Sha Tin). You will oversee the normal operations of the Video Patrol room and perform fallback procedures of NVPSS when necessary. You will also assist in monitoring the ongoing development of NVPSS, testing scripts, update procedures and test report documentation together form a major part of the ongoing software testing procedures to improve the standard of services provided to Racing Stewards.

For AV Producer

  • Control the New Patrol Sync. Play System (NVPSS) and VTR
  • Support Stewards inquiry (During Race and Post Race Meeting)
  • Edit the Video Patrol Master, and other related productions
  • Provide clear instruction to Patrol cameraperson to ensure the framing and picture quality of the video patrol video
  • Video Dubbing for Stewards inquiry
  • Manage the AV tape store and the Video Tape Master in Good Condition
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by Line Manager

For Senior AV Producer

  • Ensure the stability of NVPSS during Raceday and Non-raceday operations
  • Continuous development of NVPSS to meet the customer requirements
  • Oversee the normal operations of the Video Patrol operations
  • Work closely with TV producer and content team to visualize / package the TV programme
  • Ensure the Video Patrol Master quality and supervise the content execution
  • Monitor and quality control of Patrol mastering and archiving
  • Arrange regular stock check of video patrol master
  • Plan and provide training to improve the ability and efficiency of the Video Patrol Team
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by Line Manager

About You

You should have:

  • Bachelor degree in Journalism, Communication, Languages, Advertising, Multi-Media & Video Production or related disciplines
  • A minimum of 3 years’ copy-writing experience with advertising agency
  • Experience in live broadcast operations preferred
  • Proficiency in Avid, Premiere-Pro, After Effect, and Photoshop
  • Good sense of trends and initiative to stay up-to-date, be self-motivated, proactive
  • Good communication skills with proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Ability to work independently under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours
  • Knowledge and interest in horse racing an advantage
  • Candidates with more experience might be considered as a Senior AV Producer

For Senior AV Producer, travel frequently to China might be required
