Technician Opening in Hong Kong Shue Yan University

Hong Kong Shue Yan University is inviting applications for a full-time technician position. The appointee will mainly assist in the management of three laboratories. They are the Big Data Laboratory, the Virtual Reality Laboratory, and the Social Robotics & Digital Living Laboratory.

The appointee will be responsible for (a) maintenance of laboratory equipment and providing technical supports to end-users; (b) assisting in daily operation of the 3 laboratories, such as equipment booking and stocktaking of laboratory consumables; (c) maintenance of large equipment (such as 3D cave and big data server); (d) providing technical support to faculty members and students; (e) communicating with vendors; and (f) assisting in laboratory visit and training.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related disciplines from a recognised university or technical institute; (ii) at least 1 year’s experience in system administration or technical support; (iii) an effective command of both Chinese and English; and (iv) self-motivated and able to communicate with lab users. Experience in operations on cloud platform or VR equipment would be advantageous. Fresh graduates will also be considered.
