Job Description
Childcare, Elderly and Community Services Discipline

Major Duties:
(a) To assist in overseeing the daily operations of the operational unit and ensure effective management of resources of the operational unit;
(b) To assist the Academic Director and the Head of Department in the academic development and management of the programme strategic development;
(c) To take an active role in the development, validation and accreditation of programmes;
(d) To provide academic leadership in programme design /accreditation and validation / fieldwork placement / resources management and implementation on the relevant quality assurance policy in the stream of Child Education;
(e) To act as Programme Leader and serve in Programme Board(s), Boards of Examiners and other academic / management committees and work groups as required;
(f) To develop and review quality policies for the discipline / operational unit, and to be responsible for maintaining the standard and quality of the programmes;
(g) To work closely with all stakeholders, both internal and external, for the betterment of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET);
(h) To build close network with the industries, professional bodies, HKSAR Government, Non-profit Organisations (NGOs) and strategic partners in the programme promotion and operation;
(i) To explore new opportunities for the discipline / operational unit, such as developing consultancy, corporate training programmes, or top-up degree programmes;
(j) To assist in the development of new services and programmes to meet the needs of the industry; and
(k) To initiate, develop and render services, both locally and internationally, to facilitate students’ learning and perform teaching duties and supervise student projects where necessary.
Requirements:
(a) A recognized degree in Child Education / Special Child Care and Education, or a related discipline, preferably with a post-graduate qualification, or equivalent;
(b) At least 5 years’ relevant experience at an appropriate level of responsibility;
(c) Good track records of professional development and linkages with the industry, professional bodies, NGOs and HKSAR Government;
(d) Excellent market intelligence in Child Education training and services;
(e) Solid experience in programme design and development, implementation of quality assurance policy; assessment and reporting, student admission, or the work areas relevant to the post;
(f) Good understanding of the vision and mission of the Council and the future development of VPET;
(g) Good administrative, interpersonal, communication and team building skills;
(h) A high level of proficiency and good presentation skills in both English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua;
(i) Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following area(s) in Early Childhood Education would be an advantage:
i) Use of Information Technology
ii) STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics) Education
iii) Visual Arts
iv) Music
Notes:
(1) Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a written assessment in English before the interview and make a presentation at the interview.
(2) The appointee may be required to perform duties outside normal working hours and/or outside campus.
