The Data Center Global Services organization is looking for an exceptional individual with a successful, progressive career history in the area of structured cabling as a technician in our Data Center Operation Team. The team is responsible for driving low voltage structured cabling across the Amazon data center platform.

This role offers challenge and opportunity for experienced cabling professionals. The ideal candidate will be passionate about customer experience, drive global innovation through structured cabling contributions.

Key job responsibilities

• Track and prepare cabling for incoming equipment in advance
• Manage, check and coordinate all materials to be delivered to site
• Connecting fiber / copper cables and power cords and taking care of basic configuration in line with internal SLA
• Follow all production, safety and quality standards, codes and industry best practices
• Report current status via ticketing system, provide status reports, and email
• Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain collocation space cleanliness
• Inventory, track and manage project related materials throughout project lifecycle
• Reading and comprehending blueprints and building documentation / redline work
• Travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed
• Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions
• Occasional work in tight and/or narrow spaces, such as under raised floors
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of structured cabling experience
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware and network cabling
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook to document track
• Experience of troubleshooting fiber optic network cables (Using fiber tester, power meter, etc.)
• Possess proven problem solving skills, and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentations
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment, displaying excellent time management skills and the ability to follow directions
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• English & Cantonese fluency

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience of CAD drawings and floor plans
• Knowledge of Copper and Fiber Optic testing methodologies
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities
• Previous experience working in a Data Center environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management)
• General comprehension of the various components and sub-components of data center infrastructure
• Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CITY & GUILDS Cabling cert or equivalent)
• Experience working with various networking hardware such as multiplexers, routers, and switches
