The job holder’s major responsibilities are to:

• Cover the development and upgrading projects of infrastructure and buildings, and warehouse building development project for the container terminals in Hong Kong including 2,320m long quay structure, 90 hectare container terminal yard, 319,000 square feet ancillary buildings, 145,000 square feet existing warehouse buildings
• Manage the development and upgrading projects including feasibility study, planning, design, project management and contract execution, and site work supervision, and handing over to the users
• Undertake special projects and technical support to China Ports when required
• Co-ordinate with internal departments as well as external parties on project related issues
• Ensure the site work to be carried out and supervised properly, safely, and on time at reasonable cost to achieve the prescribed quality of work, with minimizing impact and interruptions on operations
• Manage consultant and contractors, and collaborate with procurement for tendering and contract award process and perform contractor performance management
• Manage budget and expenditure forecast, and control resources and expenditure of projects, with the financial authority and within budget limits to secure the timely and cost-effective completion
• Ensure the conformance with the company standards and statutory regulations on environment, health and safety, and to minimize accidents, injury, and damage to the company
• Collect user requirements and provides support and solutions to users on the relevant aspects
• Liaise with Hong Kong Government Authorities for project work

 The ideal candidate should have/be:

• Master or Degree in Civil Engineering / Structural / Civil Engineering / Building Construction / Construction Management or equivalent with more than 15 years relevant working experience
• Membership of relevant professional institutions is preferable
• At least 5 years’ experience in management position in relevant industry
• Knowledge of Infrastructure design and construction, contract administration, government building regulations and related statutory requirements
• Project management experience
• Working experience in medium to large scale warehouse building development project will be an advantage
• Good written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)
• Good leadership and communication skills, independent, analytical, able to work under pressure
