Job Description

Job Responsibilities

Portfolio Guidance and Investment Management
  • To maximize long-term total returns on the company’s investments within the organisation’s investment policies, risk framework and objectives.
  • Providing strategic leadership through developing and recommending a multi-year strategic plan for the management’s review and consideration.
  • Reviewing, adjusting and monitoring Well Link's investment structure, philosophy, processes and policies to serve current and future needs.
  • Maintaining and enhancing portfolio objectives, asset allocation targets, risk parameters and benchmarks consistent with Well Link's long-term goals.
  • Participating in the asset liability management (ALM) process to ensure the investment program is in consistency with Well Link’s overall asset liability mismatch mandate.
  • Providing Well Link's Board with ongoing analysis of global economic situations as they relate to Well Link's investment program.
  • Advising the Board and the CEO as to the impact on the investment program for information released to the public, press, legislature, and other similar matters as needed.

Performance Monitoring and Risk Management

  • Providing leadership through establishing risk measurement criteria for the management's consideration and ensures risk assessments are incorporated into investment operations and performance measurement.
  • Establishing reporting mechanisms to keep the Board sufficiently and appropriately informed as to the status of Well Link's investment program and the procedures used to implement it.
  • Standardizing policy and procedural guidelines to ensure consistency with approved investment strategies and in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Monitoring the usage of investment related IT system (both internally and externally) to ensure that the systems used by Well Link are subject to market standard and the company’s requirement. 

External Investment Managers

  • Establishing external investment manager selection procedure for asset classes that are not managed internally (e.g. alternative investments)
  • Overseeing investment managers' due diligence and recommending external managers to the Board.
  • Providing portfolios performance assessments against risk/return objectives and benchmarks ensuring consistency with established guidelines.
  • Monitoring and evaluating external investment managers and recommending changes when necessary.

Training /Staffing

  • Provide ongoing training and updates to key management and staff on investment management.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with different Departments and colleagues of the Company
  • Ensure Succession Plan in place in the Investment Division by identifying critical positions and developing talents for higher level and increased responsibility.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business administration, economics or finance, complemented by a master’s degree (a plus) with an emphasis on finance, economics
  • A CFA would also be preferable
  • Investment knowledge and experience on investment management in life insurance companies for at least 5 years
  • Strong understanding and track record of dealing with Hong Kong and Mainland China investment regulators
  • Integrity and Honesty
  • Self-initiative, detail oriented with good inter-personal skill and strong analytical mind
  • Ability to work with and positively influence the Management and teams on investment issues while achieving corporate objectives
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with different levels of people and able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
