Job Description
The post holder will be responsible for and expected to carry out the following duties:
Conflicts:
- Understanding & communicating the firm’s conflicts checks & relevant business policies and procedures
- Conducting the conflict searches, analyse and evaluate the results
- Identification and escalation of potential conflicts issues
- Liaising with Partners, Legal Managers, Global Managing Partners and Legal staff to resolve conflicts issues and communication to fee earners of results
- Evaluate new clients, bill payer and related KYC parties in order to understand the nature of business, ownership and control structure and identify any higher-risk areas
- Review current KYC files
- Handling the periodic reviews of existing clients to complete Customer Due Diligence (CDD)
- Run background checks as needed for AML, KYC, Sanctions, PEPs related issues.
- Ensure enhanced due diligence policies and procedures are followed wherever higher-risk triggers are identified, escalating the matter to the HOD as appropriate
- Liaise with internal staff and external third parties regarding general compliance matters
- Ensure that the compliance database is updated in a timely manner
- Assist the HOD in ensuring that employees have received appropriate AML induction and refresher training as appropriate
- Provide compliance guidance across the law firm
- Assist with the design and implementation of administrative processes and procedures in adherence to firm policy
- Other compliance duties may be assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- For Compliance Analyst, 2-4 years of experience in compliance within Latin American and Asian regions would be an advantage
- Must have a Bachelor degree or higher
- ICA or ACAMS International Advanced Certificate in compliance would be an advantage
- Must have the ability to read and write in English & Chinese
- Ability to recognise key compliance risks as they relate to specific types of structures
- Experience with management, board and regulatory reporting would be an advantage
- Experience with client and employee conflicts would be an advantage
- Thorough working knowledge of KYC/CDD
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and organisational skills.
- Ability to analyse data and pay keen attention to detail
