Job Description

This role is responsible for searching, developing, and seasonal sourcing fabric (woven, cut & sewn knits) to meet the needs of product development.  Oversee all sample fabric and trim ordering, all initial fabric testing, and reports plus FOB costs negotiation.  Besides, they will also be proactively advising the Product Director on global fabric trends, fabric-related technological advances, and best market practices of the local retailing industry.

Responsibilities: 

  • Source and develop seasonal fabric to meet the needs of the Design team.
  • Oversee sample fabric ordering and delivery plus price negotiation.
  • Highlight proactively any new development to the Design team and work closely with the Design Manager / Chief Designer to develop product concepts and interpret the needs of our vendors.
  • Attend Fabric Show to get new ideas on fabric development.
  • Expand sourcing network and evaluate regularly the performance of fabric mills.
  • Work with the Production team and factories to solve any fabric issues that may arise at the bulk fabric stage.
  • Negotiate with suppliers on pricing and agreement.
  • Attend key product meetings.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary education in textile or related discipline
  • Minimum 12-year relevant experience of which at least 3 years in supervisory level.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of fiber, weaving, dyeing and finishing, inspection procedures, and testing methods for textiles
  • Solid experience in fashion fabric development
  • Knowledge of China fabric markets is a must
  • Strong fashion sense and hands-on experiences in working with designers are preferable
  • Sound fabric and lab test knowledge
  • Sound PC knowledge including Excel and Word
  • Good communication and negotiation skill
  • Good time management and people management skill
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Mandarin
