Job Description

Purpose

The team leader will have a minimum of 5 years GlobalView/SAP payroll experience and a minimum of 2 years leading a payroll team. In this highly visible role, the position holder will have daily oversight of the core end-to-end payroll process. This role collaborates with local C&B Operations, business partners, Finance, key vendors (ADP), tax authorities, and unions to ensure payroll execution is timely and accurate. 

The position holder is the go-to subject matter expert regarding GlobalView capabilities, team & vendor performance, and service delivery model supporting the Regional Payroll Lead as needed to optimize operations and GPS value.  Possessing an evolved technical and customer service aptitude, this role identifies trends which turn into actionable improvements, identifies and addresses training needs of the team, mentors/coaches employees on tactical processing areas of opportunity and tracks performance to defined service level agreements.  Creating a stable, standardized, consistent and pleasing operating environment is critical to ensure the payroll delivery meets and exceeds customer and leadership expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day activities (ranging from WD data interface to GL reports generation) of the country Payroll Delivery Center/s, executing the entire payroll process for around 2000 employees
  • Assists in the development of the managed service environment including resource requirements, policies, procedures and logistics
  • Internal stakeholder engagement
    • Works with appropriate business unit customers on regular basis
    • Metrics review
    • Escalation management
    • Change management – actively communicate changes to policy/standards
  • Manages vendor relationships with ADP and other third party vendors while driving vendors for solutions for the benefits of local entities
  • Handles the billing to various business unit customers and resolution of any related billing issues
  • Provides advice and drives proper pension contribution & tax filing matters
  • Resolves issues from authorities e.g. IRD, MPFA in partnership with local HR/Ops team
  • Assures appropriate levels of control are in place and functioning well (eSOX, gap assessments and external audits)
  • Assures appropriate compliance with regards to data privacy and retention of records
  • Maintains current on country legislation and compliance standards; implements (as needed) and monitors
  • Maintains proactive, engaging communication with local HR/ Ops team and Finance, and effectively communicates with all levels within the GPS organization
  • Manage team performance and partners with local HR regarding any performance issues impacting the team and/or local entities
  • Builds depth of knowledge within team, develops associates and supports career-pathing/ succession planning
  • Supports process improvement initiatives and builds a culture of continuous improvement
  • Brings industry best practices to the global strategy; drives and participates in global/regional initiatives 
Requirements
  • 5 years’ payroll experience with solid working knowledge in GlobalView and SAP
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in leading and managing a payroll team
  • Management of shared services preferred
  • Bachelor Degree required
  • Familiar with Labour Ordinance and taxation legislation of HK and Macau (a Must) and that of other regions (an advantage).
  • Self-motivated, detail-minded, well-organized, capable to work under pressure and meet deadlines with good time management
  • Strong numeric sense with high accuracy and efficiency
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin)
