Job Description

We are seeking an Educational Assistant to join our Individual Needs team commencing August 2022. 

Main Accountabilities:

Support for Learning and Teaching:

  • Assist in the educational and social development of students with individual needs;
  • Support students in all classes inclusive of all academic and/or specialist subjects as required;
  • Assist in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans and relevant learning programs for students;
  • Support students to develop their social skills / behaviours, including the implementation of individual behaviour plans when required;
  • Prepare and present displays of students' work;
  • Support teachers in photocopying and other tasks in order to support Learning and Teaching.

In addition, in the 2022-23 academic year, this position involves working to actively support a student with identified learning needs and physical disabilities to access a balanced curriculum. This will include,

  • Providing support for the student inside and outside the classroom, including educational visits and whole school events, to enable students to fully participate in activities;
  • Assisting the student with personal care needs e.g. toileting, changing clothes, and activities requiring physical support.

Requirements

  • Ability to build and maintain successful relationships with students, treating students with respect and consideration;
  • Sufficient knowledge, expertise and awareness of students’ social, emotional and learning needs to work effectively with teachers as part of a professional team;         
  • Relevant experience working with Individual Needs students in schools will be an advantage;
  • A least 2 years GCSE (pass A-C) or equivalent in Maths and English.
