Job Description – Finance Officer (Maternity Leave Cover)
The temporary Finance Officer will be providing interim cover to the incumbent Finance Officer who is due to go on Maternity Leave. He/she will be supporting the fee earning operations through handling billing / matter maintenance requests, processing incoming funds / client monies and advising the law firm & Fiduciary business on funds & receipts statuses. In addition, the incumbent will assist with accounting processes such as month-end / year-end closings.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Supporting the fee earning operations by processing revenue related transactions (bill generation, bill reversal, bill / WIP adjustment), matter maintenance requests (Matter set up review and Matter information changes) and corresponding to external/internal parties on billing & cash related queries
- Accounting for daily credit receipts / client monies (incoming TTs and Cheques) by effective bookkeeping to the relevant ledgers (Accounts receivables/Client monies) and managing inter-account transfers between Law Firm’s Office, Client and Fiduciary accounts
- Collaborating with Credit control, wider finance team and Fiduciary team on funds origins, allocations and book keeping treatments
- Adhering to the firm’s working capital policy by investigating unidentified receipts, collaborating with Credit Control / Fiduciary team and liaising with the bank on payors’ information and payment returns
- Ensuring books are reflective of an up to date cash position by keeping accurate track of unallocated funds and preparing bank reconciliations on a weekly and monthly basis
- Assisting with accounting processes such as monthend / year end journals, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, providing support towards external audit request
- Participating in process improvement projects, automation initiatives and workflow streamlining
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
- 3+ year experience, preferably with relevant experience gained in legal or professional service industry
- Excellent attention to details with high level of accuracy essential
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Work well in a team environment including other offices
- Self-initiative attitude
- Strong communication skills in both verbal (English and Chinese) and writing
