Job Description

SERVICE-LEARNING AND LEADERSHIP OFFICE

Research Associate / Research Assistant (Full-Time / Part-Time) (Ref. 220831005)
[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

Duties

The appointee will assist the project leader in the project - “A data-driven evaluation into the impact of service-learning”.  He/She will be required to:

(a) assist the team leader of the Service-Learning Research Team to contribute to the planning, quantitative data analysis and academic paper publications on service-learning;

(b) carry out administration and coordination of evaluations and other surveys conducted by the Office;

(c) assist in the design of quantitative evaluations on various aspects of the impact of service-learning on students/teachers/the community;

(d) assist in conducting analysis and reporting on the data collected;

(e) conduct literature review; and

(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Research Associate post should have a master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Statistics or other related disciplines or a good honours degree in one of the said disciplines with at least three years of relevant work experience in data analysis.

Applicants for the Research Assistant post should have an honours degree in Education, Psychology, Statistics, Computer Sciences or other related disciplines or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants should also have:

(a) good knowledge of and skills in quantitative data analysis using relevant computer software;

(b) the ability to coordinate various research and/or evaluation activities;

(c) good interpersonal and communication skills; and

(d) excellent communication and interpersonal skills in working with people at different levels in a university setting.
