Job Description

JOCKEY CLUB DESIGN INSTITUTE FOR SOCIAL INNOVATION
Research Assistant – Spatial Stream (Full-time/Part-time) (Ref. 220830011)
[Appointment period: six months]
Duties
The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Strategic public policy research project - Study on effective transitional housing delivery in Hong Kong”. 
The appointee is expected to work in a project team, in which the Project Associate shall lead and coordinate the works and output of the Research Associates and Research Assistants.  He/She will be required to:
(a) conduct study on the provision of transitional social housing or short-term affordable housing in Hong Kong, including housing policies, planning, tenancy provisions, industry and community (non-governmental organizations) participation and related social services development such as personal empowerment and neighbourhood schemes;
(b) examine and analyse provisions as mentioned in (a) above, develop and conduct questionnaire survey and focus group discussions with the aim to formulate policy recommendations and relevant streamlining measures on planning and other control;
(c) develop “Best practice guide for delivery of transitional housing projects” to include policy and planning guidelines and principles for reference by potential project proponents and operators;
(d) conduct public and industry seminars to disseminate policy recommendations for evaluation and feedback, as well as assisting in journal publications; and
(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation or his delegates.
The appointee may be required to work occasionally outside normal office hours, including Saturdays and Sundays; and travel to conduct site/factory visits outside Hong Kong.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have an honours degree in Social Science, Urban Planning, Real Estate/Housing or related disciplines or an equivalent qualification;
(b) possess essential skills in data collection and statistical analysis;
(c) have good communication and interpersonal skills in engaging multiple stakeholders in the construction and social services sectors including the community;
(d) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; and
(e) be independent, self-motivated and responsible for leading various projects or research tasks.
Preference will be given to those with one to two years of experience in assisting research projects.  Fresh graduates with appropriate background or training will also be considered.

Conditions of Service
For full-time appointment, a highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. 
For part-time appointment, the remuneration rate is HK$122 per hour.
