Job Description
Hotel and Tourism Institute / Chinese Culinary Institute / International Culinary Institute

Major Duties:
(a) To perform teaching duties including supervision of students’ projects and fieldwork placement;
(b) To carry out duties in relation to student and academic administration;
(c) To develop programme curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment materials;
(d) To assist in validation and accreditation of programmes; and
(e) To participate in networking with industry / industrial attachments, departmental projects and functions, including but not limited to consultancy services, research studies, seminars and exhibitions.
Requirements:
(a) (i) A recognized degree in English Language / English Language and Literature / Language Studies (English) / Linguistics / Education (English) / English Communication / Translation (English); OR
(ii) A recognized degree in a non-relevant field; AND a relevant English teaching qualification, such as Postgraduate Certificate / Diploma in Education (major in English), Teaching English as a Second Language or Teaching English as a Foreign Language or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL and English-teaching certification recognised by TESL Canada) or English for Specific Purposes (ESP). A transcript with course details including the number of hours of instruction and practicum should be provided for consideration.
(b) At least 3 years’ relevant teaching and/or industry experience;
(c) Good communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese.
(d) Good knowledge of basic computer applications;
(e) Preferably with some understanding of the hospitality and culinary industry.
(f) Good work initiative and be customer oriented;
(g) Preferably with relevant work experience; and
(h) Ability to pass a written test and a teaching demonstration session.
Notes:
(1) Candidates with less experience may also apply and will be considered for the Teaching Associate rank.
(2) The appointee may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and in designated places as assigned.
(3) In support of the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) Scheme launched by the Hong Kong Police Force, all prospective appointees will be requested to undergo the SCRC at the advanced stage of the employment process.
