Department of Health and Physical Education
Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences

The appointee will be responsible for teaching duties for undergraduate programmes and/or above; contributing to programme development; and engaging in departmental and faculty services. He/she will also be required to supervise students in teaching practice and practicum. He/she should have relevant teaching experience in Home Economics, pedagogical studies, teaching innovation and assessment, as well as demonstrating leadership abilities. The appointment will be for three years.

Applicants should have at least a Master’s degree in Home Economics, Health Science or a related discipline. For Senior Lecturer I or Senior Lecturer II, applicants should have a minimum of 8 years’ post-qualification teaching experience; or preferably a Doctoral degree plus a minimum of 3 years' relevant post-qualification teaching experience. For Lecturer I, applicants should have a minimum of 4 years’ relevant post-qualification teaching experience.

Applicants should preferably possess a relevant professional teaching certificate, i.e., PGDE or qualification of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognized by the Education Bureau of Hong Kong or other equivalent qualification. Proven evidence of quality teaching and/or a successful record of relevant professional experience at primary/secondary and/or tertiary level is required. Applicants should have the ability to contribute to teaching in food science, nutrition and health, textile and fashion design, family and consumer education, etc. It would be advantageous to applicants to have the ability to teach through more than one medium of instruction (English/ Cantonese/ Putonghua). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract. Fringe benefits include contract-end gratuity, leave, medical and dental benefits.
