Job Description

Department of Cultural and Creative Arts

The Department of Cultural and Creative Arts aims to be one of the premier arts education providers in the region and is committed to sustain a creative and dynamic learning environment in Music, Visual Arts and other art-related disciplines that promotes and supports high standards of professionalism in teaching, learning, research and knowledge transfer. It aims to nurture skilled, knowledgeable and caring graduates and empower them to achieve academic and artistic excellence in transformative roles as innovative educators, enterprising community-based arts practitioners, creative thinkers and cultural leaders in the 21st Century.

The Department now seeks applications for the post of Lecturer I/II in the areas of art education, curriculum and pedagogy, Chinese painting, art appreciation and arts therapy. Applicants who could teach more than one area is preferred. In addition to course teaching, the appointees will participate in activities related to project supervision, field experience supervision, internship supervision, guidance to students in the capacity of personal tutors, and so on. The appointees are expected to contribute to curriculum and programme development, programme and course management and partake in departmental activities and represent the Department in meetings and various boards and committees, and provide good service contributions to the University and the community.

Applicants should possess a professional teaching certificate / QTS or equivalent. For the post of Lecturer I, applicants should have a Master’s Degree in a relevant subject discipline plus a minimum of 4 years’ relevant post-qualification teaching experience in the relevant discipline. Applicants with less teaching experience may be considered for the post of Lecturer II.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract. Fringe benefits include contract-end gratuity, leave, medical and dental benefits.
