The role

We are looking to appoint a target-driven Assistant Student Recruitment Manager to support student recruitment efforts in East Asia.  The position will work alongside and support existing members of the recruitment team to develop and implement ambitious sales, marketing and recruitment activities for our colleges and partner universities.

The candidate will have excellent organizational skills and be a self-starter. The role will be responsible for achieving student recruitment targets, both market-specific and partner-specific, from countries and territories in the region, but with a particular focus on Hong Kong and the Philippines at the outset. All KI employees are expected to make a significant contribution to the success of their own division as well as cooperating with colleagues working across the range of KI businesses.

This position is based in Kaplan’s Hong Kong office and may require occasional travel within the East Asia and Southeast Asia region in the future.

Assistant Student Recruitment Manager

Amongst other duties, you will/will be responsible for:

  • Provide effective course counselling to students and parents on their study pathways from our colleges to our partner universities
  • Deliver exemplary customer service is to all internal and external stakeholders
  • Convert student opportunities from new leads into actual enrolments, including responding to all enquiries within 48 hours
  • Identify sales opportunities and barriers through discussion with Kaplan International team members; develop action plans to create and capitalise on recruitment opportunities and overcoming barriers
  • Assess the return on investment of participating in recruitment events that take place throughout the region to prioritise and participate in high-value recruitment events and activities
  • Maintain excellent agent relationships, with an emphasis on training and support to ensure high loyalty and performance
  • Be the main point of contact for agents and respond to their enquiries in an efficient and effective manner within 48 hours
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of our college courses, entry requirements and education systems in the region and in Australia/New Zealand.
  • Liaise effectively across the Kaplan network, including sales teams, admissions staff, campus/college based teams and partner universities
  • Provide in-country support and market intelligence to the wider Kaplan International team and our partner universities
  • Provide support on special projects and tasks as specified by the management

The post involves frequent attendance of exhibitions, open days, seminars and agent visits. Many events are held on weekends and public holidays. The successful candidate will (ideally) will have experience of travel within the region and will have the maturity and confidence to work independently soon after appointment to the role.

Candidate profile

  • Experience of working in the education sector, ideally in a student recruitment or counselling role;
  • Understanding of international education systems and Australian higher education;
  • An undergraduate degree (Australian or New Zealand preferred) or equivalent;
  • Results-orientated, ambitious and highly motivated, ability to work to tight deadlines;
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written;
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities within inflexible deadlines;
  • Self-motivation, ability to prioritise effectively, be flexible and manage your time under pressure;
