Job Description
We are looking for several high calibre engineering professionals to join the Telecommunications Branch of our Power Systems Business Group. Our telecommunications networks cover the full spectrum of technologies including fibre optic, transmission & multiplexing, microwave, LAN/WAN, PABX, TETRA and other radio networks.
Major duties would include:
- Plan, design, implement, operate, and maintain the wireline and wireless telecommunications networks, including the services provided by telecom operators
- Conduct technology evaluation, feasibility studies, and pilot trials on new telecommunications technologies and applications which could bring values to existing and/or future business/engineering operations
- Plan and monitor the assigned telecommunications projects to ensure they could be delivered on time and within budget under the required safety and quality standards
- Perform system fault diagnosis and investigation at power substations and hill-top stations and in some cases with the support from contractors
- Liaise and co-ordinate with various departments to deliver telecommunications services/projects to fulfil the customers’ needs
- Deploy and restore telecommunications services upon user requests, equipment fault and system upgrade and migration
- Perform network operation and maintenance works to achieve the KPI target of Telecommunications system availability
- • Plan and schedule routine maintenance, including software/firmware patches for eliminating cyber-security vulnerabilities, on aforementioned telecommunications systems and the related auxiliary facilities
- Review and prepare engineering and safety documents including system design, work schedule, installation plan, test and commissioning plan, wiring record, as-built drawing, system handover document, operation and maintenance procedure, system migration plan, Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), Written Safe Work Procedure (WSWP), etc.
- Coordinate with other Company’s operational units to handle cybersecurity related issues
- Supervise both internal staff and contractors and ensure the compliance with the technical, safety, quality, and statutory requirements
- Perform duties during typhoon periods, adverse weather conditions, and non-office hours as required
Requirements:
- A recognized university degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- At least 3 years’ relevant engineering experience in telecommunications fields
- Experience and knowledge in telecom network design, operation & implementation, e.g., fibre optic, transmission & multiplexing, microwave, LAN/WAN, PABX, IP Telephony, Wi-Fi, TETRA and other radio networks
- Proficiency in SDH / IP-MPLS based multiplexing technologies or data networking technologies including routing and switching communication protocols, like OSPF, BGP and MPLS would be an advantage
- Experience in cybersecurity governance, support, and troubleshooting will be an additional advantage
- Possession of good safety and environmental awareness
- Independent, result-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese
- Possession of good communication, interpersonal and team-building skills
- Possession of a valid Driving License class 1, 2 would be an advantage
