Job Description

Engineering Discipline

Major Duties:
(a) To assist in overseeing the daily operations of the operational unit and ensure effective management of resources of the operation unit;
(b) To provide academic leadership in curriculum planning, design, validation / accreditation and development of aircraft maintenance and related programmes;
(c) To coordinate and liaise with the approved maintenance training organisations in and outside Hong Kong for programme management including quality assurance matters;
(d) To develop and review quality policies for the discipline / operational unit, and to be responsible for maintaining the standard and quality of the programmes;
(e) To contribute to the strategic planning and development of the discipline including but not limited to programme planning, module design and rationalisation, top-up degree programmes, in-service corporate training, and consultancy;
(f) To actively participate in networking with industry and overseas partners on internationalization, and with professional bodies and trade associations on collaborative projects, industrial attachments, mentorship programmes and industry-based student projects of the discipline;
(g) To serve in academic / management committees / boards, and provide support for events, projects and activities of the department and the discipline; and
(h) To perform teaching duties and supervise student projects where necessary.

Requirements:
(a) A recognised degree in Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent professional qualifications, preferably with a post-graduate qualification or recognised aircraft maintenance licence;
(b) At least 5 years’ relevant experience in aircraft maintenance or the related training organisation at an appropriate level of responsibility;
(c) Solid experience in programme design and development, implementation of quality assurance policy; assessment and reporting, and/or student admission and related work;
(d) Good understanding of the development of Vocational and Professional Education and Training;
(e) Track records of professional development and linkages with the industry such as the recognised Maintenance Training Organisations (MTOs) and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centres;
(f) Good administrative, interpersonal, communication and team building skills;
(g) Good presentation skills and a high level of proficiency in both English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua; and
(h) Preference will be given to candidates with:
(i) strong industry network in aviation / aircraft maintenance community and engagement on trade associate committees;
(ii) training and academic experience on aircraft maintenance programmes; and/or
(iii) solid work experience in aviation / aircraft maintenance.
Notes:
(1) Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a written assessment, and make a presentation at the interview.
(2) The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties outside normal working hours and at different work locations as assigned.
