Job Description

Responsibilities:

Objectives

As a member of the Application Support team providing support to the production elements of the EQD booking and position keeping applications, together with end-of-day valuation chain applications.  The Application Support role is centred on:

  • 1st- and 2nd-level technical and functional application support, perform daily SOD/EOD system health check/monitoring
  • Practical Service Management, i.e. adhering to ITIL methodologies and global GM standards for change, release, incident, problem and request Management

Application Support

Requires working closely with application development, technical production and infrastructure teams to:

  • perform internal users’ daily requests
  • manage production incidents, troubleshoot technical issues and identify solutions or workarounds to restore normal services to the Business promptly
  • manage and track production problems, maintain effective communication to the users and other parties throughout, and where necessary, propose relevant enhancements or bug fixes
  • plan, test and perform configuration changes, deployment or upgrade of mission-critical trading applications and systems
  • plan and coordinate UATs with users for application releases
  • pro-actively monitor, manage and improve the availability and performance of the production systems
  • pro-actively manage the capacity of the production applications to accommodate trading volume growth
  • provide feedback and propose solutions to Management on performance, capacity and design issues
  • minimise operational failure, including the risk of fraud, by helping to devise and implementing sufficient regular controls
  • compile the comprehensive system and process documentation
  • organise and execute UAT, including:
  • identify and escalate major issues to management in a timely manner
  • comply with regulatory requirements and internal guidelines
  • work effectively with representatives of all departments, from Front Office to Operations and IT, in different locations through good interpersonal and communication skills

 
Experience:

Candidates must possess tertiary qualifications, preferably majoring in IT. Minimum 3 years of working experience in a financial institution.  He/she must be experienced in providing multi-disciplined technical and functional support as part of a team, and have a solid knowledge of equity listed and OTC structured products.  Exposure to the ITIL framework would also be beneficial.

  • Windows, Unix/Linux knowledge
  • Knowledge and experience of Weblogic, Tomcat and IBM MQ Series would be advantageous
  • Experience in project management would also be useful
