Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Assist East Asia Region Research & Development Director in driving ventures work in the Region
- Harvest ideas through organizing innovation workshops, competitions, acceleration programs and through proactive communication with stakeholders
- Filter the harvested ideas based on desirability, feasibility and viable, with input from relevant users and experts
- Evaluate and coordinate with suitable product designers, contractors, and suppliers for new product development
- Define and develop the product strategy including owning the short, medium, and long-term vision and execution
- Work with the inventors and take them through the whole development and commercialization process
- Coordinate with the global ventures team in driving ventures activities across the whole firm
- Develop strategies and action plans to promote creativity, innovation, and intrapreneurship
- Perform other ad-hoc tasks as assigned
- Degree holder in relevant discipline; higher education is preferred
- At least 8 years of relevant experience on ventures, innovation, or intrapreneurship; experience in performing product/service development in the construction/engineering industry will be a distinct advantage
- Substantial experience gained at different stages of ventures from idea generation, validation, seeding, development to commercialization
- Well connected with technology providing organizations, start-ups, incubators, and funding bodies especially in HK and Mainland China
- With good technical knowledge to understand the multi-disciplinary Arup’s core business in the built environment
- Possess professional skills in pitching ideas to stakeholders and gaining buy-in
- Mature, strong analytical skills and genuine interest on ventures, creativity & innovation with inclusive and collaborative working habits
- Strong sense of technology trends in digital, built environment and construction
- Fluent in English, Cantonese and specially in Mandarin with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of managerial and operational staff
