Job Description
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Regional Head of Accounting, Asia, you are responsible for, in relation to our Retail Business
sector, accurate and timely deliverables of both internal and local regulatory reporting to Hong Kong Insurance
Authority, and ensuring compliance with financial internal control procedures and guidelines.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries postings (both technical and non-technical) and account reconciliations on a timely manner.
- Calculate expenses allocations / recharges in relation to the Retail Business.
- Improve efficiency of coordination, transfer and reconciliation of data from interfaces of front-end systems.
- Oversee the bank reconciliation process and ensure the discrepancies are addressed / resolved in a systematic and timely manner.
- Reconcile and settle intercompany transactions, both technical and non-technical, within the affiliated company group.
- Retrieve data from multiple feeder systems for the purpose of reserving by appointed actuary firm.
- Timely execution and fulfillment of internal and external reporting requirements.
- Liaison with external and internal auditors and fulfil any audit-related request.
- Other Ad hoc tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
Required Education:
- Tertiary qualification, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Accounting.
- Candidates with Professional accounting qualification would be advantageous.
Required Experience:
- Over 3 years of finance experience in the General Insurance industry. Experience with Health, Personal Lines and Motor insurance products would be an advantage.
- Solid experience in dealing with data mapping / data migration issues.
- Analytical Thinking and Numeracy: Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex (e.g. ambiguous, from various sources) data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations.
- Communication and Presentation Skills: Ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively to the audience from different business functions (both verbal and in writing).
- Problem Solving Ability: Ability to identify and make proposal with appropriate actions to remediate issues that and follow through on their remediation.
- Languages: English & Cantonese.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to handle complex processes (closing, reporting, finance operations) including understanding of data flows.
- Advanced knowledge with SAP and other data management applications, including writing scripts / queries to extract accurate data from systems for reporting purpose effectively and efficiently.
- Advanced Excel skills to effectively analyze data is a must.
