BMC is led globally by Karen Hopkins. The function is made up of over 2,000 professionals, working across the Executive and Regions in the following areas of specialism: Brand; Marketing; PR/Media Relations & External Communications; Internal Communications & Employee Engagement; Corporate communications.


BMC also includes a number of teams who are responsible for content development, editorial, webcasts, events-staging, strategy, planning and operations. The opportunity


EY in Asia-Pacific (APAC) has been leading revenue growth at EY for several years and going from strength to strength. The Asia-Pacific Area is high-growth, innovative, culturally rich and diverse, and consists of six Regions including: ASEAN, Greater China, Japan, Korea, Oceania, and the Asia-Pacific Financial Services Organization.

The Asia-Pacific Consulting Brand, Marketing & Communications Associate Director will work closely with Global, Area and Region teams supporting the Consulting service line. The Global Consulting and Asia-Pacific BMC team is seeking a creative, experienced and highly motivated leader with a strong background in professional services marketing and communications. In this role, you will lead the deployment and localization of global Consulting BMC programs in the Asia-Pacific Area and support local Regions, as well as assist with the development of Area-wide, cross functional marketing and communications programs to help build engagement with key external influencers and decision makers, engage our people and drive change internally, and create a distinctive voice for Consulting at EY with all stakeholders.


Your key responsibilities

Based in Asia-Pacific, you will work with the business and the Asia-Pacific Area BMC team to develop and deliver marketing and communications activities that support the reputation and revenue objectives for the Asia-Pacific Consulting practice. As a senior member of the Global Consulting BMC leadership team and the Asia-Pacific Area BMC leadership team, you will apply current marketing and branding best practices, as well as a knowledge of the business to create strategies with focused objectives, budgets, targets and metrics, while developing and maintaining competitive and compelling value propositions.


Success in this role will be demonstrated through the results of leading and owning the delivery of this strategic, multi-channel Consulting BMC program and supporting activities that increase the effectiveness of communications and evolve the external brand perception of EY Consulting services.


You will have a dual reporting line to the Global BMC Consulting Leader and the Asia-Pacific BMC Leader, and will work closely with the Asia-Pacific Consulting Managing Partner, the Global Consulting leadership team and the broader Asia-Pacific BMC team.


Responsibilities include:


  • Lead Consulting BMC team to deliver high performance, best practice programs, campaigns and initiatives.
  • Work with Area and Region teams to understand the relevance and value of programs and campaigns in Regions for prioritization and activation.
  • Advise and support senior Asia-Pacific Consulting leaders on strategic communications, including the Asia-Pacific Consulting Managing Partner and members of the Asia-Pacific Consulting leadership team, as required.
  • Build senior level stakeholder relationships that provide strategic counsel on brand, marketing and communications best practices
  • Work closely with global brand, go-to-market program, and external and internal communications teams across the organization, as well as Area Consulting leadership, to define, develop and deliver integrated marketing and communications programs
  • Successfully collaborate within a highly matrixed operating environment, including leveraging and originating go-to-market content (e.g., positioning documents, thought leadership, digital content and product summaries) within EY’s brand guidelines
  • Manage and deliver multi-channel internal communications programs with the input of multiple stakeholders
  • Develop issue-based, buyer journey-led marketing strategies and create and execute plans that have focused objectives, budgets and performance metrics
  • Be an active member of the Asia-Pacific Area BMC team and build positive and influential networks with Asia-Pacific regional brand, marketing and communications professionals
  • Effectively work autonomously within a highly virtual, global BMC team


Skills and attributes for success


  • Proven ability to manage complex communications and stakeholder management across diverse markets.
  • Extensive experience collaborating across different cultures and executing programs across markets in Asia-Pacific
  • Deep understanding of the variety of marketing and communications channels and tactics available to engage stakeholders, with an emphasis on digital
  • Solid project management skills and a track record for delivery within a matrix and virtual team environment
  • Strong writing skills, attention to deadlines and adherence to brand standards
  • High level of influencing and networking skills across all levels of stakeholder engagement.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, demonstrated reliability and self-initiative.
  • Proven ability to influence and build collaborative relationships in BMC and beyond.
  • Ability to challenge views and perspectives while securing buy-in within BMC and beyond.
  • Experience managing complex programs.
  • A willingness to work remotely and flexibly in a self-motivated and autonomous fashion whilst retaining close contact with the Asia-Pacific Consulting BMC team (this may at times include evenings and early mornings due to timezones


To qualify for the role you must have


  • Minimum 10-15 years of strategic brand, marketing and communications experience with a global organization and/or complex organization, with a proven track record supporting executive teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and networking experience, as well as experience managing a wide range of relationships with people at all levels within an organization, including global leaders
  • Knowledge of and experience with global business fundamentals, business models, ethics, competitive analysis and cross-cultural/geographical sensitivities
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in role demands and responsibilities
  • Proven ability to excel in a Big Four or complex organization
  • Proven ability to influence and build collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience of working effectively in a cross-cultural/cross-time zone environment for multiple stakeholders and audiences, including with virtual high-performing teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent area of study) in Communications, Corporate Communications, Marketing Communications, or Public Relations.


Ideally, you’ll also have


  • Experience in a cross-border role, managing complex global programs
  • Experience with or exposure to consulting and technology marketing and communications preferred
  • Working knowledge of EY, the professional services sector or matrix organizations
  • Ability to interact, influence and communicate effectively with key stakeholders
