ALBA Integrated Waste Solutions (Hong Kong) Limited (ALBA IWS) has been appointed by the EPD to design, construct and operate the WEEE·PARK. We employ state-of-the-art German technology to process waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). In 2021, we collected and treated over 23,000 tonnes of WEEE, produced over 20,000 tonnes of valuable recycled materials and saved over 97,000 tonnes of CO2 emission for Hong Kong.

Training Programme:

The successful candidates will go through a two-year training programme covering:

1. ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 implementation and continual improvement skills including acquiring lead auditor qualification.
2. Job hazard analysis and risk assessment for WEEE handling and treatment, chemical waste handling and large-scale logistics operations.
3. Identification, review and updating of environmental aspects; and control of significant environmental aspects.
4. Design of safety and environmental inspection checklists, conducting inspections, recording inspection results, corrective actions monitoring and preparation of inspection finding statistics and analysis.
5. Accident, incident and near miss reporting, investigation, and corrective action plan implementation.
6. Compliance management including various EPD and FSD licenses and permits applications, updating and renewal, as well as contractual compliance in environmental monitoring.
7. Development of competence and training needs matrix for different groups of staff and coordinate / implement training and qualification plans.
8. Be trained as a trainer for conducting safety and environmental training; organizing safety and environmental promotion events and campaigns;
9. Energy and carbon audit, and preparation / updating of GHG Inventory.
10. Promotion of positive safety-first culture within the company.

Requirements:

Graduates from territory institutions, best within two years, with suitable qualifications for registration as a safety officer with Labour Department for industrial undertakings, or for corporate membership of professional environmental institutions (CIWEM or equivalent); and have strong passion for becoming an environmental and safety practitioner.

The Hong Kong SAR Government contracted with ALBA Integrated Waste Solutions (HK) Ltd. (ALBA IWS) to design and build an integrated waste management system, including collection arrangements and the construction of the WEEE · PARK, for processing of electrical and electronic waste (including refrigerators, TVs, computers, washing machines and air conditioners) into secondary raw materials while controlling the handling of hazardous materials.
