Job Description

You will be responsible for:
  • handling special and thematic exhibition related registration work and on-site installation management projects;
  • assisting in establishing, implementing and managing collection management policies and procedures; the management of Collection Management System (CMS) and ensure data is accurate and up-to-date in collaboration with curators and other parties;
  • collaborating with the Curatorial Affairs Section and supporting the acquisition of new objects and maintaining collection documentation;
  • observing best practices in all aspects of collection management, documentation (both international and local) and managing the storage space and object movement as well as supervising the detailed planning and project management to ensure the collections are safe and secured with appropriate storage environment;
  • overseeing the implementation of effective collection cataloguing and digitisation strategies by collaborating with other relevant parties efficiently;
  • following integrated pest management and risk management procedures and responding to reported collection management issues and incidents timely;
  • working on collection management procurement projects mainly for planning of the museum’s art storage areas and monitoring the budget to ensure it is well-spent and within the approved budget; and
  • performing other duties as assigned by supervisor when deemed necessary.
You should:
  • possess a recognised university degree in visual art, art history, cultural heritage management, archives and records management, museum studies or other relevant discipline;
  • have at least 5 years of relevant working experience in collection management gained from cultural institutions; familiarity with Chinese antiquities is preferrable;
  • have good knowledge of museum standards and best practices in collection management and possess proficiency in collection management softwares. Experience with Collection Management System (CMS) is a plus;
  • possess strong organisational, planning and time management skills with the ability to work with tight deadlines, manage and deliver successfully multiple complex projects concurrently and cope well under pressure;
  • be able to pay meticulous attention to details and accuracy;
  • have strong communicational and diplomatic skills, be able to work collaboratively and build internal and external relationships to achieve goals; and
  • possess proficiency in Chinese and English, proficiency in Cantonese or Putonghua is a plus.
