Job Description

VSH is Seeking an Experienced Human Resources Manager

The Human Resources Manager position (also known as the People & Organization Manager) is a unique opportunity to oversee the talent and associate experience for VSH, Hong Kong’s leading specialty referral veterinary hospital. You will be responsible for managing the full cycle of associate experience as well as  developing, implementing and overseeing our workforce’s engagement and alignment with our hospital culture. This position works with other departments and functions as a key member of a collaborative leadership team, supporting over 100 associates.

As the People & Organization (P&O) Manager, you will:

Manage the full cycle of associate experience in hospitals – sourcing & attraction, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, associate engagement, relations and separations.  Live and exemplify our company’s Five Principles and Associate Concept throughout the whole cycle.

  •  Attract, source, recruit and retain hospital staff
  • Conduct new hire orientation and ensure the collection of all necessary employment documentation;
  • Complete associate onboarding to ensure that each associate feels welcome and has a positive experience;
  • Ensure that our workforce is treated fairly and reasonably at all times by helping associates to resolve conflicts and dealing with a myriad of complex personnel management situations. Respond to associate concerns to ensure that every member of the team feels “heard” and well treated;
  • Conduct workplace investigations;
  • Cultivate an engaging climate for associates in the hospitals
  • Lead annual and on-going P&O processes i.e. compensation reviews and performance reviews in collaboration with the hospital’s leadership team;
  • Serve as Human Resources Point of Contact for all Associate Relations issues;
  • Partner with hospital leadership with respect to corrective action and separations;
  • Manage compensation process;

In business partnership and advisory capacity, lead hospitals’ top people priorities – i.e. leadership coaching and capabilities, workforce and talent planning, health & wellbeing, total rewards, and other signature programs development etc.

  • Educate and advise hospital management and staff on the importance of our culture and how they can incorporate The Five Principles into daily activities and decision making. 
  • Ensure that the team is well cast, with the right talent in the right roles;
  • Develop the team for bench strength and succession planning;
  • Guide Hospital Leaders on best practices, as well as hospital guidelines and company policies;
  • Ensure that team members have a strong understanding of total rewards enhancements and healthcare eligibility;
  • Support training and development of hospital team, including leadership training for hospital teams;
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional; publications; maintaining business networks; and participating in professional organizations;
  • Demonstrate ability to understand how the hospital operates to implement the right solutions
  • Partner with Mars Veterinary Health regional P&O Director, deploy signature programs (i.e. Introduction to the Essence of Mars, Associate Survey, Make The Difference, Associate Development plans, Great Line Management etc.) at the right timing for hospitals
  • Other duties as assigned

 Education/Experience

  • University Degree in Human Resources Management or other related discipline
  • Well-versed in HK Employment Ordinances and other HR related regulations in HK
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in HR Business Partnership/HR Generalist role and dealing with employee relations issues

 Additional Qualifications

  • Self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision
  • Excellent management skills, combined with ability to manage concurrent priorities and tasks
  • In addition to being a skilled communicator, the successful candidate will need to have experience influencing others in an advisory capacity on complex HR matters
  • Ability to deliver consistent results by creating strong collaborative relationships with VSH and Mars Veterinary Health stakeholders
  • Fluent English and Cantonese, Mandarin is a plus
  • Affection and comfort with dogs and cats, and other animals
